Design Team cards for Stamp Addicts – Vintage roses (large and small)

These are 6 of the cards I made using the vintage rose head large and the vintage rose head small for my first time as a DT member for Stamp Addicts. I was sent 4 stamps to create cards and this is one of the stamps, see my other posts to look at the other cards I created which were featured on Hochanda on Friday 7th February 2020 at 7pm.

1. Large rose head

For this first card the large flower was stamped 3 times in archival ink – jet black and inked with Altenew inks (baby pink, fushia and magenta). The same inks were used to ink onto the base card and also to stamp and stencil. The stamp used on the base card is from Elizabeth craft designs, planner essentials stamps – patterns 2, and the stencil is an imagination crafts leaf stencil.

The label is the from the pin dot label trio and is by tattered lace, as is the foliage. The sentiment is from Stamps by me.

2. Large rose head

For the second card I once again stamped 3 of the large flowers in archival ink – jet black. I coloured directly onto the flowers with some conte watercolour pencils and used a water brush to pull out the colour. The background is from The Paper Shelter “hippie van” and onto this I stamped a Hunkydory stamp “Life doesn’t have to be perfect”. The background was mounted onto black and then onto a base card and the flowers were shaped and stuck with some silicone glue to help keep their shape.

3. Large rose head

The third card using the large flower I stamped 9 flowers in archival ink and coloured these with distress ink – tattered rose. The flowers were then layered onto the base card overlapping so that they made a seem less background. A topper was cut out and a sentiment was die cut and stuck onto it with gems to finish off the card.

4. Small rose head

The background for this card was stencilled onto the base card with a Clarity Stamp Stencil from the doodleology collection and two distress inks – fossilized amber and pumice stone. A border was drawn around the stencil. 7 of the small flowers were stamped in archival ink – jet black and inked in the same two distress inks. The flowers were stuck onto the stencilled background and where they fell over the edge they were cut to the edge. On a scrap piece on card the sentiment was stamped and inked to contrast.

5. Small rose head

To colour the flowers for this more contemporary card I used direct to paper technique using distress ink – picked raspberry. Added a contrasting backing paper and die cut some sizzix heart flowers for the leaves. The sentiment is one from Stamps by me.

6. Small rose head

I’ve only used a single flower with this design, as I wanted to show that they don’t have to be grouped they can be an accent. This flower is coloured with distress inks – picked raspberry, wilted violet and seedless preserves. The background was made using antique linen, hickory smoke and tattered rose distress inks, with a Parisian feel Stamp, a Tattered lace ‘nested notepapers’ die. I then added a butterfly and a sentiment to finish.
