This week I chose to do something a little different, it’s not often enough I get to do a mixed media piece. The image I had to work with was these beautiful flowers which I printed 4 times and coloured with Chameleon pens.
For the background I took a piece of sturdy grey board, painted it with a base coat of gesso, then began ripping and sticking down bits of paper and flowers all with different shades and textures. Then to tone it down and bring it all together I painted over the whole thing with watered down gesso. I then added the decorative heart strip which was die cut out of thin grey board again painted with gesso. Then onto the board I stuck my corners and embellished with some flowers in texture paste.
To finish and give the theme of family I chose two wooden pieces which were in my stash – “Family” and “Cherish”. Both of these were painted with gesso as well and stuck to the centre of the mixed media piece.
