Autumn days duplicity

Hi everyone. Thanks for stopping by. The trees are getting colourful and the weather is changing so autumn is definitely here!

For the DT challenge this week the sponsor for trimmies CRAFT challenge #656 is Sheepski Designs. The theme this week is “Autumn/Halloween/”. Each week we invite you to join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge going with the theme.

This week I chose to use my distress oxide inks and a Dylusions mica spray. I chose an image called “Duplicity” – for some reason I’m drawn to skulls and butterflies! I printed this image out twice so that I could decoupage a second layer for the rose and butterflies. The parts that are layered I gave also added the mica spray onto so that they stand out against the main image.

So here’s a summary of the materials used to make the card:

  • Digital image from Sheepski Designs
  • Distress Oxide inks (see above image for colours)
  • High tack glue
  • Silicone glue
  • Card base – 300gsm
  • Metallic card mat

I hope that you feel inspired and it would be lovely to read you comments.

Dream Valley Challenge #209 – Autumn colours

Come over to the Dream Valley challenge and join us for our latest challenge. A big thank you to Sheepski Designs for being our sponsor.

The image I’ve used is called “coffee break”. I printed the image into some white card and below the image I stamped the sentiment “Don’t let life ruffle your feathers”. Below this I lined up a die to give the pretty bottom to the topper. I cut this to make it a long section to fit onto the front of a 5×7 kraft card which I inked with some distress oxides. The same oxides I also used around the image to tone the white card I’d printed onto in with the inked base card and the coloured image. I chose some of my Chameleon pens (YO2, BR3, BR1, NU3, NG4, OR3, NU4, YO3, BR5, RD5, BR2, BR4, NU1 and NU00) to colour the image in tones of autumn.

I wanted to give some interest to the background of the card base as inked it just looked too plain. I had some leaves I’d previously cut and coloured in my stash so I inked these with the residual ink on the inkers and them I stuck them down and formed a more interesting background.

I’m entering this into Pammies Inky Pinkies #1936 challenge.

#484 CRAFT challenge – Autumn/Weather

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge.

Our sponsor for this challenge is eureka stamps. I chose this autumn themed digi stamp, but as I was putting the card together there was in death in the near family and I felt that this would be appropriate to send. So I chose to add the words to the floating leaves to let them know I was thinking of them.

I’d watched some videos using drawing gum and felt this was a card I could try out this technique with. So I masked off the tree and the leaves which allowed me to ink the background with distress inks. Once I was happy with the background inking I was able to remove the gum and water colour the tree, again with autumnal distress inks. It’s an alternate masking technique to post it notes which I’d use again, and is more appropriate for the leaves which are being scattered.

To make this into a sympathy card I added the stamped phrase in amongst the floating leaves. I then cut out the image and decided to keep it simple an mount this onto a car base that had similar colouring around the outside to extend the image. Inside the card I added “sending you a paper hug”. I hope you like it.
