Flamingo birthday 🦩

Creating and personalising cards for people I know (and don’t know) is part of the pleasure I believe. It’s not just about creating for the sake of creating it’s about making someone’s day and about making them smile. The card I’m sharing today was for a really good friend of mine.

I chose to use the Pink Ink Flamingo from their Wings Series of stamps. I stamped the gorgeous flamingo in kitsch flamingo (what else??) distress oxide onto a piece of watercolour card that was already in my stash from where I’d been making backgrounds with Brusho. I wanted a mat that wouldn’t take away from the focal point, but nothing I had seemed to work. So looking through my stash a saw a roll of washi tape. I used the washi tape wrapped over the edge of the card so that it was thinner and am amazed I’ve not thought of it before. I think it’s a fabulous way to frame the image!

The stamp set comes with other stamps like the flower and the crown so I utilised these too in my design. I am really pleased with the end result and hope it’s inspired you!

Happy crafting!

Abbie’s 21st birthday

A card for my daughters friends birthday who is 21 today.

The background I made a while ago, on one of those days when you are playing and creating backgrounds. This time I had been playing with brusho. I put my background through an embossing folder and then used some pearl lustre cosmic shimmer metallic gilding polish over the top. I cut the 21 from the same background paper but inked it with a distress ink salty sea to darken it slightly and then used guiding flakes to accent the numbers. The lady, which is a Kanban stamp, was coloured with Chameleon pens NU00, BL3, WG3, NU2, BR1. As this was for a birthday I stamped a happy birthday sentiment and mounted both this and the image into some pale gray adorable scoreable card.

Dream Valley Challenge #212 – Add a sentiment

Come over to the Dream Valley challenge and join us for our latest challenge. Our sponsor this time is Fabrika Fantasy.

I used Autumn Owlet for this challenge and added the stamped sentiment “Have a hoot on your birthday “.

After printing off this digital image I chose to colour it in with my Chameleon pens and then inked the background lightly with Antique linen distress ink just to take the whiteness away from being so harsh in the background.

I layered this up and made a card blank to fit from some centura pearl card. To finish I had a couple of feathers in my stash with similar colours which I made up some time ago, from a brusho and gold lacquer back ground, so I added these to the side for interest.

CRAFT challenge #530 – Sketch

The sketch for this challenge is:

I chose an image that would work in a circle for this challenge, and I loved this tree. It’s great and and hopefully shows that love grows over the years like it has for my parents.

I coloured the tree with reds and browns from my chameleon pen set (RD2, RD3, RD4, RD5, BR3, BR4 and BR5). On top of the hearts I added glossy accents.

The background I made from a white sheet of card, some Cosmo Cricket pixie paint (Ruby), some Brusho paint (black) and a mini water spritzer. The blocks to follow the sketch design were all pieces in my off cuts box. I cut the hearts as well for the corner features and then I added some gold onto the plain red panel and hearts. The same gold I gently added to the main feature circle with a dry wet wipe to give a subtle colour which just takes the edge off the stark white circle. Finally I die-cut a sentimental add to the bottom right. I hope you like the card.

#499 CRAFT challenge – Anything Goes

I’ve spent most of my weekend watching my children play football and rugby so it was lovely to be able to come in out of the cold and take a moment to craft. Wind, sleet, hail, it was awful!

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge. Our sponsor for this challenge is All Dressed Up.

I used the image “love my iPad”. Most kids these days have an devices so when I saw this image from All Dressed Up I wanted to use it!

I used images of iPhones to put the girl with her iPad and the lettering HB2U (happy birthday to you). Behind the HB2U I cut out the centre panel of the iPhone and replaced it with a brush background I created which was in my stash. The girl I coloured with pencil crayons and the rest of the card is toned with distress inks.
