#483 CRAFT challenge – Sport

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge.

Our sponsor this week is Dr digi house of stamps. I’m an ice hockey fan so when the theme was sport I was so pleased to find find this ice hockey guy. The image was coloured with my Chameleon pens. I really wasn’t sure what I was going to do for the background and I found ,yield thinking about the words associated with ice hockey and then it struck me that I should put these down and make that my background. Hence the words here.

To create the word background I used scan n cut canvas and I chose different fonts for the words the sized them to give some variation. I then used the draw function to add this to a backing paper. I think it is a fab men’s card.

#481 CRAFT challenge – Shaker card

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge.

The challenge this time was to make a shaker card. Our sponsor is The Cutting Cafe. I made two cards for this challenge.

Card 1 – circle shaker

I had the background I’d made a while back with some distress inks and while I was away in Cornwall recently I picked up the fairy die. As soon as I saw her I imagined a black silhouette on an inked background so here she is bought to life! I cut her twice and overlapped where she was on the card to give a fairy inside and out.

I was also able to use the Creative Expressions stamp set (CEC872 spread your wings journaling) for the two sentiments on the front and inside this card. I knew they were a useful set when I picked them up! These sentiments were stamped in jet black Stâzon.

I faintly inked the inside of this card using the same distress inks is used on the front to tone the card completely. Then used my Chameleon pens to colour in the word ‘wings’ and ‘soar’.

The final stamps I used were a set I’d picked up from Sheena Douglass (A little bit of scenic silhouette stamps set) a while back in 2015. These form the silhouette flowers around the card.

Card 2 – jar shaker

As the first card had been very feminine I wanted to make a contrasting masculine card.

I hope you like my shaker cards.

#480 CRAFT challenge – Back to School

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge.

The summer holidays are always over too soon and it’s back to routine and that means back to school for the kids.

I coloured this card with my Chameleon pens and stamped and inked around the edge of the image mat with some distress inks. Mounted this on some blue paper from my stash and added this to the front of a card covered with green card that has been stencilled with a number and alphabet stencil and a sentiment added.

#479 CRAFT challenge – Christmas

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge, our sponsor for this challenge is Rick St Dennis

I thought this guy was so cute carrying his Christmas tree on his back. I really enjoyed coloring him in with my Chameleon pens too. The die cut surround is from a tattered lace USB, I just felt it framed the image nicely. I created a tag with a Christmas sentiment for the top corner and I finished off the card with a new technique which I’d been wanting to try for a while. The berries on the holly are made from hot glue gun glue, I squeezed three blobs of glue out onto a heat resistant craft mat, let them dry and then coloured them with the chameleon pens. I think they look great. So much so that I’ve just bought some glittered glue sticks!

#476 CRAFT challenge – Shabby Chic

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge, our sponsor this week is All Dressed Up.

As it’s the end of the school year this is a thank you card for one of the teachers who is also leaving the school. She’s been there for the children so it’s sad that she’s leaving.

The colouring on this card is simply with colouring pencils. I don’t know why but that was what I wanted to use. The background rectangle was coloured with distress oxide inks, a diamond stencil from John next door and some pearl crafters companion spray. The oval mat was from a background making try out session and was from boho shimmer sprays I picked up while on holiday last year in Canada and some stencils. Finally the corner accent embossed pieces were again made on the background session, then later embossed and I used some guiding wax to tint them and some distress inks to tone the look together. The embossed background I then fussy cut to give me two corner pieces. I love this look and hope that it is well received! All of this was mounted up onto an A5 card blank I made along with a matching envelope.

#475 CRAFT challenge – Inspiration Picture

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge, our sponsor this week is Bugaboo Stamps.

I took inspiration from the colours in the inspiration picture for this challenge for my DT creation this week.

The image was coloured with Chameleon pens and mounted up. As Edward elephant was the main focus I didn’t want to do too much to take away from him. I felt it needed to be framed though so I used a bubble stamp around the edge of the square mat to add some fun, as if he had been blowing bubbles at a party! CAS.

#474 CRAFT challenge – Thank you

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge, our sponsor this week is Sheepski Designs.

When I’d coloured in this image I realised that the last image I did as a DT challenge for Sheepski Designs was in a purple pallet too! Not sure if that is a significant coincidence!

For this challenge I coloured the image with Chameleon pens and I was able to use the blending chambers to make them blooms lighter or darker, as well as the stems too. The background was done with distress inks and scrunched inked, inked again and the colour built up. It gave me a colourful base to add the flower vase to as well as a thank you sentiment. The card was quite stark white so I chose to use some grey distress ink around the edge of the card, the topper and the sentiment. I felt this blended them all in together.
