TTCRD anything goes challenge – 21st September 2021

The sponsor for this challenge is Ike’s Art. Each week we invite you to join us at the Through the craft room door blog, the theme is always anything goes!

I created my card using the following:

Ike’s Art heart postbox digital image

A4 pink and white polka dot 300gsm card

Chameleon pens (RD4, NU1, PK3, PK2, PK4, VO2, PL5, RD2)

Distress oxide inks – Victorian Velvet and Picked Raspberry

Studio light ticket stamp and die set

Tattered lace starburst ovals

Leaf die

Fuchsia pink paper

Sparkly cream 240gsm card from pink frog

Gems

Paper trimmer

Anita tacky glue

The image I chose to use was this lovely postbox. With the hearts on it, it screamed anniversary to me and love, hence why I coloured it in red and pink Chameleon pens.

I recently picked up the ticket cutting die and decided that I wanted to team these up with the postbox image. I die cut 3 of these, created a background with some Victorian Velvet distress oxide ink then stamped with picked raspberry using some of the stamps from that set and others from another set. I mean it’s great to mix and match your stash isn’t it!

I cut out the starburst ovals but also kept the centre and used a pick up technique, with the distress oxide picked raspberry ink, to colour this mat. Next cutting out a few of the leaves too.

As always it’s lovely to see that you’ve stopped by to leave a comment. Thank you.

CRAFT challenge #573 – ATG / optional Christmas twist

We are having a Design Team Call. If you would like to be part of our fun, friendly team then check out the details below. You don’t have to have any previous DT experience so if you fancy ‘getting your feet wet’ just get in touch here.

We are looking for several permanent designers who like the rest of us are committed crafters. All we ask is that you commit to producing one project a week, following the themes and using any freebies that our generous sponsors provide. You will need to have a blog to share your creations and advertise the challenge to coincide with the time the challenge goes live. We also ask that you comment on allocated entries to the challenge – this is a great way to get inspiration for your own crafting. It’s that simple!

So now to this weeks Christmas card for Trimmies Craft Challenge using “Carolling” from our sponsor this time is Colour of Love.

I’ve coloured this digital image with Chameleon pens (CG9, NU0, BL3, RD2, BL2, YO3, NU1, GR1, GR2, NU2, NU00, WG3, BR2, YL2, NU4, RD4, YO2), matted onto mottled green, gold and then a striped coordinating paper. I added die cut snowflakes from a glitter card to frame the carolling girl.

CRAFT challenge #571 – Shaped card/Anything goes

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge. Our sponsor this time is Dr Digi House of Stamps.

I’ve used this image a couple of times before, it’s so versatile and I love it! It’s called “quackers”. I’ve water-coloured these lovely birds with distress inks and sat them on some die cut branches. So cute!

CRAFT challenge #561 – Shabby Chic

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge. Our sponsor this time is All Dressed Up.

I loved this typewriter when I saw it, so I was really pleased to work with it. The typewriter image has been coloured with Chameleon pens, I’ve made the flowers to tone in with everything and added some leaves and the lacey background.

I hope you like my card and that you come and join the challenge.

TTCRD anything goes challenge – 5th May 2020

Come and join us for the latest challenge from Through the craft room door (TTCRD). Our sponsor this time is The Paper Shelter.tps_cake

For this I’ve coloured the cake with Chameleon pens (VO2, NU0, YL2, RD4, YO2, BL3, PK3, RD2, YO3, GR2, GR4). Of course the cake has a cherry on top! I chose a backing paper paper from Papermania which had cupcakes on it. I mounted this on a green mat and used the same paper to make a lacy overlay.

CRAFT challenge #545 – Christmas

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge. Our sponsor this time is Doctor digi’s house of stamps.

This is a great image, quite quirky and modern and playful. I hope you like it too.

I simply coloured this image with pencil crayons and a Sakura gelly roll pen golden star. The image was matted and layered onto the base card and a coordinating paper and a simple die cut added, with gold card behind the “merry”.

CRAFT challenge #541 – New

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge. Our sponsor this time is Crafty Sentiments Designs.

The theme this time was “new” and although this image would conjure up thoughts of valentines I decided to make it in the theme of a new baby. This is such a cute image that it lends itself to a cute cuddly bear that a new baby would hug.

it is coloured with Chameleon pens (NU2, NU1, PK3, PK4, PK5, NG4, BL2) and Spectrum Noir pens (IG1, IG2, IG4, IG6, IG8, IG10).

Letters to form the phrase “New Baby” were die cut from a strip die I’ve had for ages. To tone in the die cut letters and the hearts which were cut from white card, I used a Versa Colour ink pad (152 Ash Rose).

The image mat was matted onto a background, both with their corners rounded, and these were matted onto the base card.

Freddie’s motorbike

A friend at work asked me to make a card for her son who is into motorbikes. This is what I came up with.

I’m really pleased with it. the motorbike is from a men’s set that was on a magazine a while ago along with the background stamp which I’ve used to create the card background. I stamped the background stamp in three colours, slightly offset from each previous colour to give the background effect.

The letters for Freddie’s name were die cut from black card and then randomly inked with blue and then some gold finger wax added. I think they’re great and look kind of rusty.

I stamped the sentiment onto the mat “time to celebrate” and die cut the “just for you”. Then finally I drew some lines around the mat and the card edge to frame.

CRAFT challenge #539 – Christmas

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge. Our sponsor this time is Cute N Crafty Mommy.

This is the last challenge of 2019, and also the last challenge of the decade! I’ve used a combination of techniques for this card, and the plan didn’t start out that way it just evolved! So there’s the cute digital image, there’s stamping and inking, there’s die cutting, there’s even a peel off strip and some glitter on top of a 2-way glue pen.

Firstly I coloured the image with some alcohol markers. I think used a 2-way glue pen to cover the hat brim and the Pom Pom and covered these in glitter. I then die cut the image to make a topped and inked around the edge with some distress oxide ink. With the same ink I stamped snowflakes onto the card blank. I stuff an off cut of a First Edition paper onto the left hand side of the card and cut this to follow the scallops around the card base.

Where the edge of this met the snowflake stamping I added a black glitter peel off strip. Onto a spare piece of card I stamped 3 baubles which I coloured with the distress oxide ink, and glittered the pattern on them. Onto the base card I stamped the hanging strings and stuck the baubles at the bottom of each string. The topper image was stuck below these and the pink glittery die cut was stuck towards the left along with 3 gems. Finally in the bottom right hand corner I stamped a sentiment.

I hope that everyone has a happy festive break and that 2020 brings you all that you wish for.
