CRAFT challenge #536 – make an embellishment

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge. Our sponsor this time is QKR Stampede.

I chose this cute fellow, I can imagine him floating down the river.

I’ve had this card blank cut and inked for a while, but what I wanted to put on it back then just didn’t fit. So when I came across it again this time around I felt it was appropriate.

Its a sliding easel card which folds flat (great for postage!).

I coloured this guy with my Chameleon pens and used some of the wet brusho to colour around the image mat, literally just by dragging it through the left overs. I didn’t waste the rest of the left over pigments either I made a background sheet for my stash.

So onto the embellishment which is what this weekends challenge was all about.

My embellishment was this dragonfly which I stamped, coloured with brusho and a spritz bottle. Once dry (you can use a heat gun to speed up the drying time) I cut him out and covered him in glossy accents. The glossy accents layer was quite thick so it curled the card slightly giving it some shape.

TTCRD Anything goes challenge – 19th November 2019

Come and join us for the latest challenge from Through the craft room door (TTCRD).

Our sponsor this time is KLM Digital Designs and the prize is a $10 gift certificate.

I coloured the cute gnome with Chameleon pens and gave him a frame but using a Tattered Lace harvest themed die. I had to extend the die cut as it wasn’t large enough to go around the image so I cut it out twice and joined it together at the sides. The part I cut out from the bottom of the top piece I used to decoupage the pumpkins at the bottom of the frame.

I then coloured the base card with distress oxide inks and stamped a tree stamp, from Stampers anonymous “Regal findings CMS014” set, at different angles to give the impression of texture to the background.

Dream Valley Challenge #214 – Favourite colour combo

Come over to the Dream Valley challenge and join us for our latest challenge. Our sponsor this time is Polkadoodles.

So for this challenge we were asked to use our favourite colour combo. As you can see my favourite colour combo is pink and purple (or blue and purple). It just depends on the day!

I coloured in this Polkadoodles digital image “heart on your sleeve” with my Chameleon pens. I’ve been wanting to use this die for a while and I knew I would need a background with a good contrast to the white 7×7″ 300gsm base card and also to the coloured mage. I inked this beautiful Spectrum Noir card with some Distress Oxide ink to tone it down so that it softened the harshness of the black. Then I buffed the background up with a dry baby wipe to bring out the glossy pattern and die cut the sentiment into it.

TTCRD Anything goes challenge – 22nd October 2019

I’m quite excited that I’ve just joined another design team – Through the craft room door (TTCRD), so this is my debut posting for them. I hope you’ll join us with our latest challenge using an image from our sponsor this time Hetty Clare – called Country Girl.

I’ve coloured ‘Country Girl’ with my Chameleon pens (BL3, BL7, YO2, YO3, NU2, NU0, CG5, NU00, GR1, BL4, NU3, BL2, BV4, GR2, YG3, NU1, VO2, CG9, PK2, PK4).

She so cute. I used an oval die to set her off on a pink centura pearl card as the background. I didn’t want a busy backing paper to take away from the beautiful image! I then stamped the sentiment ‘life is better with friends’ and added some flowers which I’d already got made up in my stash.

I think this is a really lovely digi Stamp and hope you do too!

Dream Valley Challenge #212 – Add a sentiment

Come over to the Dream Valley challenge and join us for our latest challenge. Our sponsor this time is Fabrika Fantasy.

I used Autumn Owlet for this challenge and added the stamped sentiment “Have a hoot on your birthday “.

After printing off this digital image I chose to colour it in with my Chameleon pens and then inked the background lightly with Antique linen distress ink just to take the whiteness away from being so harsh in the background.

I layered this up and made a card blank to fit from some centura pearl card. To finish I had a couple of feathers in my stash with similar colours which I made up some time ago, from a brusho and gold lacquer back ground, so I added these to the side for interest.

CRAFT challenge #531 – Christmas

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge. Our sponsor this time is Crafty Sentiments.

For this card I’ve combined two things. I’m currently making samples for some demonstration days at The Range to show off some of the Trimcraft products. So I’ve combined the image for this challenge with the products I’ll be demonstrating.

Dream Valley Challenge #211 – CAS

Come over to the Dream Valley challenge and join us for our latest challenge.

LeAnns world 101 is our sponsor this week so I’ve used one of their stamps called ‘Rainy Day Suzie’. I kept this really simple as the CAS theme suggests, so I printed the image, coloured it with Chameleon pens and added some glossy accents to the rain.

I die cut this into a topper and inked around the topper faintly with a Dovecraft silver ink pad. I found a plain and simple background paper so as not to distract from the image, but to compliment and co-ordinate with the topper, stamped the sentiment onto it and stuck this onto my base card.

CRAFT challenge #530 – Sketch

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge. Our sponsor this time is Eureka Stamps.

The sketch for this challenge is:

I chose an image that would work in a circle for this challenge, and I loved this tree. It’s great and and hopefully shows that love grows over the years like it has for my parents.

I coloured the tree with reds and browns from my chameleon pen set (RD2, RD3, RD4, RD5, BR3, BR4 and BR5). On top of the hearts I added glossy accents.

The background I made from a white sheet of card, some Cosmo Cricket pixie paint (Ruby), some Brusho paint (black) and a mini water spritzer. The blocks to follow the sketch design were all pieces in my off cuts box. I cut the hearts as well for the corner features and then I added some gold onto the plain red panel and hearts. The same gold I gently added to the main feature circle with a dry wet wipe to give a subtle colour which just takes the edge off the stark white circle. Finally I die-cut a sentimental add to the bottom right. I hope you like the card.

CRAFT challenge #529 – Animals

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge. Our sponsor for this challenge is Digital Delights .

What a cute little flamboyant guy! With his tropical shorts I decided to give my card a tropical feel

I coloured this little guy with my watercolour pencils and then a water brush to blend the pencils. I had the leaves already die cut along with the tropical flower. These were added to a card blank that I’d added the stamped “amazing” word onto.

CRAFT challenge #527 – Christmas

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge. Our sponsor for this challenge is Sheepski Designs.

I’ve used my Chameleon pens (BL2, VO2, BG3, NU1, NU00, NG4, VO4, PR4 and PK4) to colour this Sheepski Designs image. I cut the image out into a square topped and layered this onto a backing paper I had in my stash and then onto a white card which I had stamped “happy holidays” to form a border around the square. I love the simple effect that this can have and its so simple to do with the Tim Holtz/Tonic stamping plate. I added a bit of sparkle with the gold and clear star Sakura pens.
