Dream Valley Challenge #212 – Add a sentiment

Come over to the Dream Valley challenge and join us for our latest challenge. Our sponsor this time is Fabrika Fantasy.

I used Autumn Owlet for this challenge and added the stamped sentiment “Have a hoot on your birthday “.

After printing off this digital image I chose to colour it in with my Chameleon pens and then inked the background lightly with Antique linen distress ink just to take the whiteness away from being so harsh in the background.

I layered this up and made a card blank to fit from some centura pearl card. To finish I had a couple of feathers in my stash with similar colours which I made up some time ago, from a brusho and gold lacquer back ground, so I added these to the side for interest.

CRAFT challenge #523 – Inspiration Picture

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge. Our sponsor this week is Bugaboo Stamps.

I took inspiration from the flowers in the inspiration picture and I really liked this quote too. It was fun to colour with my chameleon pens and the blue background I added with the broken china distress ink.

I would like to enter this into the PIP challenge 1929 – ATG

thank you for the honorable mention PIP!

CRAFT challenge #522 – Christmas

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge. Our sponsor this week is Oddball Art.

Cute but mischievous comes to mind! Reminds me of my eldest daughter!! I love this sentiment.

She’s coloured with Chameleon pens. The background of the topper is tinted with broken china distress ink and layered onto a background I made with cosmic shimmer powders on black card. I die cut a snowflake flurry which I’ve also added to the card from glitter card. To cut this out I used some parchment paper so that the die cut released more easily and this fell onto the card giving a subtle reflection of the glitter die cut so I decided to stick this onto the card as well!

Hope you like it!

CRAFT challenge #518 – Summer

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge. Our sponsor this week is All Dressed Up.

I love these balloons and I hope you’ll agree that they are beautifully summery. I can imagine them floating in a summer sky. I used my Chameleon pens to colour the balloons, stamped the ‘with love’ sentiment and inked around the edges of the topper with distress ink. I then used the same distress ink to stamp onto the 6×6″ card blank.

#511 CRAFT challenge – distress your project

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge. Our sponsor this week is Digital Delights.

For this challenge the design team were given the “queen” digi stamp from Digital Delights. I coloured her in using the following Chameleon pens:

  • BR2 hot cocoa
  • NU4 caramel
  • NU00 nude
  • NU1 bisque
  • CG8 cool gray
  • PR4 purple grape
  • RD4 crimson red
  • I also used the chameleon detail pen D with the .4mm nib to draw the lines around the right hand side of the card outline to kind of complete the square with the red hearts paper. This was one I’ve had in my stash for some time, I distressed this with my distressing tool, inked around the edges and on top with the black soot distress oxide ink. The corner of this was folded forward revealing another distressed heart paper behind. I replicated this for the banned which I’d also cut distressed and foiled the sentiment onto with the WRMK foiling quil. I masked off the edges of the card so that I could stamp into the square space opposite the red heart paper, then before the ink dried I smudged it so that it wasn’t pristine.
  • The queen was mounted on various purple card mats from my stash, and her crown was coloured with a Sakura gelly roll pen – golden star.
  • Lego men

My nephew is turning 10 years old at the beginning of May and is very into his lego. I wanted to send him a lego inspired card, so this one is on it’s way to Canada 🇨🇦.

Alongside the lego men image I stamped the happy birthday greeting. I then inked the base card and the edges on the image topper. The inks were from the Tim Holtz distress inks collection. I chose to stamp around the base card to edge it with the triangular border stamp you can see. I added some personalisation by cutting out the name and age for my nephew and sticking these onto the card.

I’m entering this into the Stick It Down Card Sketch challenge for April.

    #507 CRAFT challenge – Add a charm

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge. Our sponsor this week is Crafty Sentiments.

I chose to colour Eve for this challenge, I think she’s a wannabe rock star! She is coloured with my Chameleon pens on this occasion. I die cut the image to make it into a topper and put some distress inks around the edge of it. A rock star always has a bit of bling so I drew around the edge of the topper with a nuvo glue pen and rubbed some gold and silver leaf onto the edge. I cut a slightly bigger oval mat from a coordinating card stock.

The sentiment was stamped onto the topper. I then adhered the topper to the mat and attached the charm with a brad through the two layers.

On the card based I used a gold ink pad through a music stencil and then overlaid some distress inks to create a coordinated background and then laid 3 ribbons on top of each other to bring the colours together.

The topper was then added on some silicone glue to raise it slightly.

    #504 CRAFT challenge – Sketch

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge. Our sponsor for this challenge is Morgan’s Artworld.

For this challenge I chose the poppy design and my colour scheme of reds.

I coloured the poppy with Chameleon pens (which I love) and felt the red needed to go onto a black and white background. I found the backing paper which had both of these colours on it and instantly knew that was the one. Then I went through my stash of off cuts to find other papers that would tone in with the scheme. Putting it all together I felt that the background needed to have a black boarder mat so make it stand out a little. I felt the poppy lent itself to the ‘thinking of you’ sentiment. The card base was a white 7″x7″ card blank which I’ve stamped with a circle/target stamp in the ‘fired brick’ distress ink.

#501 CRAFT challenge – Christmas humorous

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge. Our sponsor for this challenge is Eureka Stamps.

The cat and dog have been playing at Christmas time. I’m so glad I don’t have to cope with this shenanigans in my house!

I chose 4 distress inks to watercolour with for this image and that aren’t necessarily ones you’d associate with Christmas. I like to do this to mix things up a little.

I found some snowflake paper to coordinate with the colours I’d chosen, cut some swirls and some snowflakes and stamped a sentiment.

#499 CRAFT challenge – Anything Goes

I’ve spent most of my weekend watching my children play football and rugby so it was lovely to be able to come in out of the cold and take a moment to craft. Wind, sleet, hail, it was awful!

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge. Our sponsor for this challenge is All Dressed Up.

I used the image “love my iPad”. Most kids these days have an devices so when I saw this image from All Dressed Up I wanted to use it!

I used images of iPhones to put the girl with her iPad and the lettering HB2U (happy birthday to you). Behind the HB2U I cut out the centre panel of the iPhone and replaced it with a brush background I created which was in my stash. The girl I coloured with pencil crayons and the rest of the card is toned with distress inks.
