let it snow

Hello friends. I know, I know. We all want better weather here in the UK and I’m talking about snow!! I’m back making Christmas cards again for this challenge, but actually having to make Christmas cards through the year for the challenges is helpful as then you have actually made some when it gets to December.

For the DT challenge this week the sponsor for trimmies CRAFT challenge #666 is DRS Designs. The theme this week is “winter”. Each week we invite you to join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge going with the theme.

So here’s a summary of the materials used to make the card:

  • Digital image
  • High tack glue
  • Base card – 300gsm
  • Coloured pencils
  • Tumbled glass distress ink
  • Snowflake border die
  • Cream shiny paper

I combined an image and a sentiment from our sponsor. The digital image is coloured with coloured pencils and cut to a square topper. I’ve then inked some shiny paper with distress ink so that it takes on a blue colour before die cutting this with a snowflake border die.

The snowflake border was cut 4 times and stuck down so that it was off the edge and framing the image. This was then mounted onto some inked card and added to the base card.

I hope that you feel inspired and it would be lovely to read you comments. Please let me know whether this has inspired you!

TTCRD anything goes challenge – 23rd February 2021

This challenge is using an image from our sponsor DRS designs. Join us at Through the craft room door (TTCRD) and lets see what you can do. It’s always lovely to see your creations and remember our challenges are always “anything goes – ATG”.

The Ultimate Remote

The remote is something I think a lot of men would like! Can you imagine if they could order beer and pizza by clicking a remote? I guess it’s not far off society today when we can order food online!

Let’s see your creations and comments. It makes me happy when people stop by.

CRAFT challenge #577 – Christmas

This weeks challenge at Trimmies Craft Challenge is on and our sponsor this time is DRS Designs. These challenges keep you going when you have a lot on yor mind. Crafting can absorb you and help with mindfulness. So let’s see what Christmas projects to can come up with this week.

#502 CRAFT challenge – Fantasy

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge. Our sponsor for this challenge is DRS Designs.

For this image I chose to keep the colour palette simple, blues and greens. I coloured the mermaid with my Chameleon pens. I don’t have any colour tops so I just stood one colour pen on top of the other to infuse the colours so that the transition would be pretty seamless. I love the way that the pens infuse and of course depending on how long you hold the pens together for you get a quicker or slower transition of colour.

I found some coordinating paper to cut the shells out to make a border. The shells are one of the standard cutting files on the scan n cut CM900. The shells made a border around a rectangle I had watered and splashed with distress inks to try and create a sea background. I then wanted to add some dimension and waves so I added two strips of red line tape and ruffled some ribbon along it. Finally I added a stamped sentiment.

CRAFT challenge #459 – Animals

Our sponsor for this weeks CRAFT challenge is DRS Designs pop over and join the challenge at the CRAFT challenge. The digi designs I have been using for this challenge are “see you later alligator” and “skippy the penguin”.

For this challenge I chose a text block to be the main focal point of my card as we often don’t use them we just add an appropriate sentiment based on theme.

As well as the DRS designs images I also used a butterfly stamp from the Flutterby collection textured elements. The background stamp was from Hobbycraft and was their “A6 animal print background” and also Ultimate Crafts “Bricks and Paving” stamp set. The sunflower was one I had in my stash and to accompany this I chose an exotic looking stem!
