#178 Dream Valley Challenge – Add ribbon and/or lace

Come join us at the Dream Valley Challenge. Our sponsor this time is SheepSki Designs.

For this challenge I created two cards as I liked two of the images the Dream Valley DT were given.

The background for the first card using “perfect pointe” card was created on one of those experimental afternoons where I covered a large area on the dining room table with newspaper, got a box and some spritzing inks and a bunch of card and just played at creating different backgrounds. I saw the image and wanted to go for a ballerina that wasn’t pink! After colouring it I knew that I had to try it against the background I’d got sitting waiting for an appropriate project. It couldn’t be more perfect. I found some coordinating ribbon and hey presto the card came together quite quickly. I wanted to go for something other than a rectangle too, so ended cutting the lozenge shapes for the mats and the decided to cut the card base in the same shape too. I’m really pleased with the result 🙂

I would like to enter this into the Sheepskin design challenge #14 – favourite colours.

The second image was “flower bouquet”. This image I felt leant itself to a thank you, thinking of you or get well kind of card. I really enjoyed colouring the bouquet and it could be adapted to any colour scheme you choose. The challenge is ribbon lace so I trawled through my bag of ribbons to see what toned in with the coloured image. There were quite a few pieces, but they were all thin and none of them seemed enough on their own which is why I ended up choosing several and lining them up behind the image. I also used a die to go around the mat and give a paper lace finish there too.
