The sponsor for this challenge is Morgan’s Art World and the theme is Christmas. Each week we invite you to join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge going with the theme.
I’ve used the circular wreath for this card. Coloured with Chameleon pens and mounted on foam tape and snowflakes added into the gap to make a shaker.
As always it’s lovely to see that you’ve stopped by to leave a comment. Thank you.
This week I chose to do something a little different, it’s not often enough I get to do a mixed media piece. The image I had to work with was these beautiful flowers which I printed 4 times and coloured with Chameleon pens.
For the background I took a piece of sturdy grey board, painted it with a base coat of gesso, then began ripping and sticking down bits of paper and flowers all with different shades and textures. Then to tone it down and bring it all together I painted over the whole thing with watered down gesso. I then added the decorative heart strip which was die cut out of thin grey board again painted with gesso. Then onto the board I stuck my corners and embellished with some flowers in texture paste.
Before the gesso
After the gesso
To finish and give the theme of family I chose two wooden pieces which were in my stash – “Family” and “Cherish”. Both of these were painted with gesso as well and stuck to the centre of the mixed media piece.
I hope you like it! If you did leave me a message and follow me. Thanks for reading x

As this was a digital challenge I coloured this image digitally on my ipad. I’m not sure that this is going to be a favourite method of mine of crafting!
For this challenge I chose the poppy design and my colour scheme of reds.
I coloured the poppy with Chameleon pens (which I love) and felt the red needed to go onto a black and white background. I found the backing paper which had both of these colours on it and instantly knew that was the one. Then I went through my stash of off cuts to find other papers that would tone in with the scheme. Putting it all together I felt that the background needed to have a black boarder mat so make it stand out a little. I felt the poppy lent itself to the ‘thinking of you’ sentiment. The card base was a white 7″x7″ card blank which I’ve stamped with a circle/target stamp in the ‘fired brick’ distress ink.
