CRAFT challenge #513 – Christmas

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge. Our sponsor this week is Rick St Dennis.

Christmas comes around so quickly in these challenges, but it quite often helps with making cards in time for when I actually get to Christmas and run out of time. At least I have a stash made.

For this challenge I’ve chosen to make a shaker card. My main image is the happy elf. He’s coloured with Chameleon pens (GR1, NU0, RD4, NU00, BR5, BR4, GR4 and GR2). The baubles around him are coloured with cosmic shimmer powders (colours by Phil Martin) and these are also what has been used to create the background. On top of the cosmic shimmer papers in the background I also had a go with my foiling quill. I foiled a tattered lace Christmas cutting pattern. I’ve then mounted a silver frame and acetate onto the card and filled it with little stars to create a shaker card.

#493 CRAFT challenge – Sketch

This is the sketch that my card is based upon.

The image I chose wasn’t circular, so this in itself was a challenge. Firstly I cut the image in a circle but I just felt it didn’t work. So then I came up with the idea of creating a circle wreath behind the image so keep to the theme. The leafy die I used is s tattered lace one.

The two strips are both inked/stamped rather than additional paper too. I taped the two areas individually and used various coloured distress inks and background stamps and layered them up.

The image itself is coloured with coloured pencils. I really like this digital image. I hope you like my card too.

#479 CRAFT challenge – Christmas

I thought this guy was so cute carrying his Christmas tree on his back. I really enjoyed coloring him in with my Chameleon pens too. The die cut surround is from a tattered lace USB, I just felt it framed the image nicely. I created a tag with a Christmas sentiment for the top corner and I finished off the card with a new technique which I’d been wanting to try for a while. The berries on the holly are made from hot glue gun glue, I squeezed three blobs of glue out onto a heat resistant craft mat, let them dry and then coloured them with the chameleon pens. I think they look great. So much so that I’ve just bought some glittered glue sticks!
