CRAFT challenge – #615

The sponsor for this challenge is Sweet n Sassy and the theme is Christmas – non traditional colours. Each week we invite you to join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge going with the theme.

The cute little mouse snuggled up into the hat was coloured with Chameleon pens and then given a bit of glitz and glam by adding glimmer powder. I cut the image out on my scan n cut and then worked on the background. I took my card blank and stamped in a versamark clear and added pink embossing powder. I then added some more glimmer dust into the winter themed background border stamp.

As always it’s lovely to see that you’ve stopped by to leave a comment. Thank you.

TTCRD anything goes challenge – 21st September 2021

The sponsor for this challenge is Ike’s Art. Each week we invite you to join us at the Through the craft room door blog, the theme is always anything goes!

I created my card using the following:

Ike’s Art heart postbox digital image

A4 pink and white polka dot 300gsm card

Chameleon pens (RD4, NU1, PK3, PK2, PK4, VO2, PL5, RD2)

Distress oxide inks – Victorian Velvet and Picked Raspberry

Studio light ticket stamp and die set

Tattered lace starburst ovals

Leaf die

Fuchsia pink paper

Sparkly cream 240gsm card from pink frog

Gems

Paper trimmer

Anita tacky glue

The image I chose to use was this lovely postbox. With the hearts on it, it screamed anniversary to me and love, hence why I coloured it in red and pink Chameleon pens.

I recently picked up the ticket cutting die and decided that I wanted to team these up with the postbox image. I die cut 3 of these, created a background with some Victorian Velvet distress oxide ink then stamped with picked raspberry using some of the stamps from that set and others from another set. I mean it’s great to mix and match your stash isn’t it!

I cut out the starburst ovals but also kept the centre and used a pick up technique, with the distress oxide picked raspberry ink, to colour this mat. Next cutting out a few of the leaves too.

As always it’s lovely to see that you’ve stopped by to leave a comment. Thank you.

TTCRD anything goes challenge – 10th March 2020

Come and join us for the latest challenge from Through the craft room door (TTCRD). Our sponsor this time is LeAnn’s World 101.

teapot

This flowers on this image were coloured with Chameleon pens GR2, GR1, and NU1 along with Touch New Sketch Markers 135 Pale Cherry Pink and 131 Skin White. The teapot itself was inked with Distress ink Tattered rose. I then cut out the teapot on my scan n cut machine. In my stash I had the Tattered Lace rose spray already made up and I felt that think coordinated and complemented the teapot so I used this with some Jane Nesteurenko paper in the background.

TTCRD anything goes challenge – 11th February 2020

Come and join us for the latest challenge from Through the craft room door (TTCRD) Our sponsor this time is The Cutting Cafe.

From the sponsors files I chose “b is for birthday” from the “fun birthday” file. I printed this out and cut it out so that it fitted onto the paper from the typewriter cutting file that I already had.

typewriter b is for birthday.png

I love this typewriter it can have literally any message on it and it’s so retro. I chose papers in greens, blues and greys. I hope you like it too.

Rugby girls

I decided it was too long since I’d make a scrapbook page so I chose a few photos I’d already printed and got to work to create a page (or two) with the July SID single page sketch.

From this sketch I chose to create two scrapbook pages as I’d printed 3 pictures. These will create a double page spread in my scrapbook, but they are based on the single page sketch July challenge.

Cutting the spotted accent 12″ x 12″ page up to fit the theme gave me enough pieces to create the two pages I made (and as we know crafters don’t like waste!). My two girls both play rugby and these pictures were made at the New Years Eve party 2018 at their rugby club with one of their friends. The first page shows the 3 girls who were in the u13, u15 and u18 squads at the time.

I’m so pleased that I took some time out to create these pages and I hope to be creating more as the SID challenges give me a month to prepare since I don’t always have time to create things when challenges are normally only for a week at a time.

CRAFT challenge #519 – Thank you

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge. Our sponsor this week is Paper Nest Dolls.

When I was making this card I felt that I wanted to make a background. Sometimes you just need to go with your creative flow! So I got some of my pots of cosmic shimmer in the colours that were in my image which I’d coloured with Chameleon pens and made several fabulous backgrounds. This card just uses one of them!

The Chameleon pens I used to colour this image were BL3, YO2, NU0, YO3, NU2, NU3, NU4, NU00, VO2, YL2, BR1, BR4, YG3.

The sentiment is one of the built in words from the CM900 which I cut out 3 times and layered up. The top layer of which I added some of the cosmic shimmer powders to. I love this way of building up the sentiment for more impact.

Dream Valley Challenge #203 – Only Boys Allowed

Come over to the Dream Valley challenge and join us for our latest challenge!

I love this gamer image from Sheepski Designs, our sponsor this time. So many men are gamers these days that would be an excellent digital image to add to you collection.

I coloured in the image with my chameleon pens and cut it out on my scan n cut machine. I stamped the sentiment from a stamp set I have in my stash and inked up the background behind it. The background paper I also added ink to and stamped with the second generation stamping technique so that the background was muted. I mounted the sentiment onto black card to make it stand out. The controller die cut I had in my stash and I just added some rubbing wax to it.

CRAFT challenge #514 – Fathers Day

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge. Our sponsor this week is The Paper Shelter.

This image made me think of the exaggeration we sometimes hear about when a guy has been fishing…. I could just imaging him actually sitting against a tree thinking about how big the fish he just lost really was and this was the thought I wanted him to have on the card. I think he’s dreaming of the size he’d like to report back when he sees his mates!

I chose to mount this on a background paper which looked masculine and distressed, and to colour the digital image with some water colour pencils.

I’ve had these pencils for many years (since I was a teenager) and can remember my next door neighbour borrowing them to try them out. He was a well respected artist within Birmingham, an ex Head Teacher and a man who I respected greatly. He did me a picture with them of a jazz band which I still gave to this day. Sadly he himself is no longer with us.

I hope you enjoy playing along with this weeks challenge.

CRAFT challenge #513 – Christmas

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge. Our sponsor this week is Rick St Dennis.

Christmas comes around so quickly in these challenges, but it quite often helps with making cards in time for when I actually get to Christmas and run out of time. At least I have a stash made.

For this challenge I’ve chosen to make a shaker card. My main image is the happy elf. He’s coloured with Chameleon pens (GR1, NU0, RD4, NU00, BR5, BR4, GR4 and GR2). The baubles around him are coloured with cosmic shimmer powders (colours by Phil Martin) and these are also what has been used to create the background. On top of the cosmic shimmer papers in the background I also had a go with my foiling quill. I foiled a tattered lace Christmas cutting pattern. I’ve then mounted a silver frame and acetate onto the card and filled it with little stars to create a shaker card.

#512 CRAFT challenge – Annual birthday blog hop

Morning all and a Very Happy Birthday to us all!

Can you believe it? It’s 2019 already, where does the time go?

This year we are 10 years old already and still going strong. Only one team member has been present from the start and that’s Jo.

If you feel at any time that you would like to join our fabulous team, then have a look on our DT Call page, which will inform you of any openings on the team. Or, simply get in touch with us and let us know.

This week our challenge is Birthday! (what else could it be?)

Anything that fits in with this subject, qualifies for entering into this challenge.

There is a maximum of 1 entry per person for this challenge and as always it needs to be new work (so created and posted after this challenge has started). Although we love to see your work, it would put those contestants that put more than 1 entry in at an unfair advantage. The same limit exists for the prizes to be won on the blogs of our DT members.

The rules this year are on the CRAFT challenge blog.

The sponsor I have chosen to use for this blog hop is The Cutting Cafe and the file is typewritter shaped card. I love this file so much I didn’t stop at making one card!

I cut all of the pieces in the file, added my own sentiment (although it does come with a set you can use). I also added the butterflies and a tag. I also made matching envelopes.

From here your next stop is to visit Jo‘s blog.

If you’d like to enter the draw for my blog page here’s the linky maximum 1 entry each please.

I hope you enjoy all of the DT makes on your blog hop!
