Way up high

Hi everyone. Things seem to be getting slightly warmer which is a bonus.

On to the DT challenge and the sponsor for trimmies CRAFT challenge #629 is Star Stampz. The theme this week is “Christmas”. Each week we invite you to join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge going with the theme.

For this one coloured the image with pencils,, and cut the image out from the A4 sheet it was printed on. I edged the rectangle with some creative expressions stamps which are a distressed snowflake border using Weathered Wood distress oxide.

So here’s a summary of the materials used to make the card:

  • Digital image from Star Stampz printed onto super smooth card
  • Backing paper from my stash with snowflakes
  • Colouring pencils
  • High tack glue
  • Weathered Wood distress oxide ink
  • Card base – 300gsm

I hope that you feel inspired and it would be lovely to read you comments. Are you making any Christmas cards in March?

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge. Our sponsor this time is Star Stampz.

The image was coloured with Chameleon pens (PK4, WG3, BR1, BR5, RD4, WG7, BL3, PK3, CG5, RD2, NG4, NU00, NU2, BV2, NU0, OL3, YG3, GR1, GR2). The background is quite grungy and is stamped with Distress ink blueprint sketch and Stazon black ink.

Such a cute dragon!

#202 Dream Valley challenge – only girls allowed

Come over to the Dream Valley challenge and join us for our latest challenge! Our sponsor for this challenge is Star Stampz.

I visited Stamp Addicts a couple of weeks ago and picked up these beautiful Cosmic shimmer shimmer shakers (colours by Phil Martin) so of course I had to try them out on a project! The colours are Cornflower Blue, Grass Green, Lush Pink and Heather Meadow. I shook some of the powders onto a piece of white card for the background and spritzed them with water which gave me this beautiful shimmery but subtle piece which I’ve stamped onto.

To colour the main image I tipped a small amount of the powders onto a tile and added a small amount of water to create a beautifully shimmering paint.

The sentiments are stamps I had in my stash which I’ve stamped Ranger archive ink (Jet Black) and using my Tim Holtz / Tonic stamping plate.

I’m really pleased with the result and I hope you enjoyed this project!

#508 CRAFT challenge – inspired by a song

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge. Our sponsor this week is Star Stampz.

My card this week is inspired by the song “monster” by Eminem featuring Rihanna as this stamp is “monster under the bed” and those are the words in this song. It’s a digistamp I’ve used before which I love.

I’ve water-coloured this digital image with some distress oxide inks. The image has a cute friendly playful monster that I feel makes you want to play and smile so I used the stamped sentiment “you make me smile” to echo this.

#199 Dream Valley challenge – shaped cards

Come over to the Dream Valley challenge and join us for our latest challenge! Our sponsor for this challenge is Star Stampz.

For this shaped card challenge I chose to make a an octagonal easel card. This shape gave me an opportunity to use my stamping plate and twist the card for each impression of the swirls, but I only line the stamp up once. This is something I’ve been meaning to try for ages but not had chance. Perfect alignment – I was very happy with my first attempt!

I created the shaped card on my scan n cut machine by welding two octagons together. I also cut a further single octagon for the base layer of the front of the card along with two smaller octagons for the topper and the mat below it. The image was coloured with Chameleon pens and the ink around the edges of the card was a distress oxide ink.

#191 Dream Valley Challenge – No Squares or Rectangle Cards

Come over to the Dream Valley challenge and join us for our latest challenge! This challenge is sponsored by Star Stampz.

I coloured this cute Star Stampz image with Chameleon pens using colours OR4, OR3, NU4, BG4, BG3, RD3, BV2, PK3, VO2. I’ve seen so many images with hair coloured in non standard colours that I have wanted to give this a go as I tend to stay traditional! I think that this girl carries off the colour what do you think?

As this challenge called for a shape that wasn’t a square or a rectangle I cut the card blank from a die in my stash. Then I cut the image out of a smaller nested die to match.

The card blank was then inked with Milled Lavender and stamped with various abstract stamps in Milled Lavender, Hickory Smoke, Peacock Feathers and Spun Sugar distress inks. These were then inked around the topper image too to tone in with the card base. On the topper I stamped the ‘Just for you ‘ sentiment and used some foam pads to raise the topper slightly from the card base.

#487 CRAFT challenge – use something wooden

Come and join us at Trimmies Craft Challenge. Our sponsor this week is Star Stampz.

I chose the digi stamp “monster under the bed” as it appealed to me. It made me remember when the children were younger watching Monsters Inc. my eldest still wants the cupboard door in the corner of the room closed at night! When I chose the stamp I wasn’t sure what wooden item I’d choose to add, but I found a little wooden tag which I’ve coloured a little to tone it in and stamped on it.

I look forward to seeing your cards!

#179 Dream Valley Challenge – Summer Colours

Come and join us in the Dream Valley challenge our Sponsor this time is Star Stampz.

I loved the images so much I chose to do two cards as I wanted to use two of the images!

The first image I used is ‘My sweet rose’

I used my chameleon pens to colour this image and some distress ink to tint the background paper, the flowers and the edge of the image mat so that they all toned in. The leaves I cut in green and then used various green distress inks to mottle them.

The second is ‘balloons and ice cream’

Once again I used my chameleon pens to colour the image and some distress ink to tone everything to come together.

#465 CRAFT challenge – Add a charm

Come join us at Trimmies CRAFT challenge this week. One of our two sponsors for this challenge is Star Stampz.

I chose this Star Stampz image and had a metal flower which I chose to add as my charm. I coloured the digi stamp with Chameleon pens. I’ve been so pleased with my Chameleon pens that I just ordered and received the other 22 colours! Next I need to order a large case to house them all together!

I cut the image out with my scan n cut machine and chose a coordinating backing paper. The sentiment I die cut and added onto a green background which is made from distress inks with a water spritz over the top. I love the mottled effects you can get. I then inked very subtly around the edge of the shape with a pale blue distress ink. To finish off I added a blue gem into the centre of the charm flower.
