Shining birthday wishes

Hello – long time with no blogging for me. It all got a bit like I was having to do something all of the time and that wasn’t healthy so I stepped away. There’s been a lot going on in my life since then too so hence I’ve not posted on my blog in a long time. I stopped creating for all of my online design teams last year and concentrated on me and the physical design team I am a part of with Stamp Addicts. I just wanted to create for creativity and not for the sake of having to hit so many deadlines.

I’m currently recovering from Covid again (rolls eyes) as it seems to hit me hard and it’s not at all nice. So I thought I’d write this post while I am sitting down and getting better and wish my mum a happy birthday! This card is the one I made her and it’s still in the postal system…..first class…. sorry of you see if here first mum!

The stamp is one from Crafty Roo Designs called bulb border I created an inky background on some watercolour card with some of mums favourite colours in Distress oxide. Stamped the image in Versafine Clair Nocturne and then stamped again on another piece of watercolour card so that I could cut the focal part of the image out and overlay it.

The background image has more detail and into this I added a text stamp, stamped with Versafine Clair morning mist which is a grey ink. The grey adds depth without overpowering the actual focal image. Also around the image I added some Distress Oxide in Black soot and watered this out to add a shadow. The top layer I watercoloured with the same distress inks, cut out and sprayed with a pearl shimmer spray. Between the layers I added some black cotton and gold thread. I sandwiched the threads between the layers with some 3D glue to add some height and added some bling to finish.

I really enjoyed making this card and hope that you liked it too. Perhaps you can let me know in the comments!

Stay safe out there!!
